Delta police are investigating a number of recent robberies in South Delta.
The CIBC in Tsawwassen was robbed on Sept. 17 shortly after 3 p.m. The suspect, described as 5-foot-8 man with a medium build, wore a black hoodie and hid his face with a mask or balaclava. He didn't show a weapon and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Two days later, the Royal Bank in Ladner was robbed around 4 p.m. The suspect is described as a white male, 25 to 30 years old, wearing a brown-green jacket, a white shirt seen hanging below the jacket, blue jeans, runners and a baseball cap under a toque. A black bandana covered his face. He also didn't show a weapon.
Sgt. Sharlene Brooks said although there are similarities in the two cases, police haven't confirmed whether the same suspect is responsible for both robberies.
A third robbery, shortly before 10 p.m. on Sept. 20, took place at a store in the 5400-block of 12th Avenue in Tsawwassen. The suspect showed a long kitchen knife, made verbal threats to the staff and ran off with cash.
The suspect in that case is described as a white male, approximately 5-foot-10, medium build, wearing a green hoodie, white shoes, dark coloured cargo pants, black gloves and black bandana covering his face.
In the wake of the incidents, police are encouraging business owners to review their robbery/theft response protocols with staff.
