Delta police are investigating after an 88-year-old man was struck and killed in Tsawwassen early Friday afternoon.
The man, who was riding a motorized scooter, was crossing 56th Street at 9th Avenue just after noon when he was struck by a passing SUV.
There is no marked crosswalk at that intersection.
The distraught driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police.
Officers are still investigating and 56th Street remains closed in both directions between 12th and 8A avenues.
Police say it is too early to tell what factors may have contributed to the collision.
