Delta Police release impaired totals for 2021

Delta Police removed a total of 450 drivers off Delta roads in 2021 due to impairment of alcohol or drugs.

DPD, on Monday, released the yearly total, as well, released its numbers for the first week of 2022.

For the week of Jan. 3 to 9, officers took seven impaired drivers off the road.

These included three, 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions, two three-day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions and two 24-hour Immediate Roadside Prohibitions.

“We are once again going to be sharing with you, on a weekly basis, the number of impaired drivers DPD officers take off the roads,” said the department in a post on their Facebook page. “We need you to help bring the number of impaired drivers down this year.”

How can the community help? DPD offers this:

* Do your part. If you're planning on consuming alcohol or drugs, have a plan on how to get home that doesn't involve getting behind the wheel of your vehicle

* If someone you know is impaired, help find them a safe ride home

If you suspect someone of being impaired, call 9-1-1.
