The Delta Police Department has launched a website in the hopes new tips from the public can help officers crack several unsolved cases.

The department's criminal investigation branch and corporate communications team came together to develop the website (http://dpdunsolved.ca), which officially went live last Friday. The site currently features two unsolved homicide cases as well as a missing person's case. More cases may be added in the future.

"The primary objective is to utilize all available strategies to bring these investigations to a successful conclusion," said public affairs coordinator Sharlene Brooks. "Having these cases and others available in the public domain through the website will make them accessible to the general public and may generate tips from those who have not yet come forward through traditional channels."

One of the cold cases on the website involves Regina Brazil, a 62-year-old grandmother who was murdered in her apartment on Evergreen Lane in Ladner in March of 2010.

Police believe Brazil knew the suspect(s) as there was no sign of forced entry or struggle within the apartment.

The other homicide file is the March 2009 shooting death of Sukhwinder Dhaliwal.

Police found Dhaliwal underneath the overpass in the 11800-block of Highway 10 next to his 2005 Cadillac STS.

Witnesses heard the shots and saw a Chrysler 300 speeding away from the area moments after the shooting, but the occupants were not visible. Shell casings were located at the scene. Police say Dhaliwal was known to associate with criminals, but the motive surrounding his murder is not clear.

The missing person's case on the website involves Brittany Stalman, who was last seen by her family on Nov. 13, 2006 at their North Delta home.

She went for a walk around 1 p.m. and has not been seen since. Her family is certain someone knows what happened to her and continues to hold hope they, and Brittany, will find some peace.

Delta police are encouraging the public to visit the website to read more about the unsolved files and review photos and YouTube videos posted by the investigating officers.
