Delta South Liberals seeking input as they develop local election platform

The Delta South Liberals will hold a policy forum and workshop next week as part of the provincial constituency association's effort to build a vision for South Delta.

The Delta South Liberals will hold a policy forum and workshop next week as part of the provincial constituency association's effort to build a vision for South Delta.

Over the next few months, the association will be focused on developing, and then bringing forward, its election platform, as well as nominating a candidate to represent the Liberals in next year's provincial election.

The policy forum, set for Thursday, Aug. 9, will immediately follow a "meet and greet" complimentary barbecue that will take place in the Red Barn at the Earthwise Garden, 6400-3rd Ave., Tsawwassen, beginning at 6 p.m.

It is an opportunity for the community (you don't have to be a B.C. Liberal member, but you do have to RSVP in advance) to meet with and discuss issues of concern with party members, riding executives and potential candidates. Special guests will include cabinet ministers Stephanie Cadieux and John Yap and MLAs Linda Reid and Rob Howard.

According to a constituency association press release, the community's input will be sought on key policy matters affecting South Delta. Some of the policy ideas in development include improving mobility for Delta commuters, adequate dredging of Delta waterways, and more innovation and investment in education and health care.

The constituency association says Delta is a key cog in the gateway to Asia, and the community plays an integral role in the development of national and provincial transportation and distribution infrastructure.
