Joe Kapp is a member of the CFL of Fame, the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame, the B.C. Lions Wall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame.

Here's a 1968 photo of Minnesota Viking quarterback and former BC Lion Joe Kapp signing autographs at the Sacred Heart auditorium.

Having begun his CFL career in Calgary, Kapp won a Grey Cup with the Lions four years earlier.

In 1990 he had a disastrous season as general manager of the Lions.

He was also a controversial figure during his playing days and afterward.

He made headlines a decade ago, at the age of 73, when punched out former CFL rival Angelo Mosca, 74, during an alumni luncheon in Vancouver.

As far as the CFL today, the league’s season last year went down the drain due to the pandemic.

CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie this spring announced the league’s return-to-play plans for 2021, which includes an Aug. 5 target date to start the regular season to facilitate a 14-game schedule.
