Delta using social media to connect with local residents

Delta residents now have several more ways to stay connected with the municipality.

Earlier this year, the Corporation of Delta hired a social media specialist to help develop and expand Delta's Facebook, Twitter, Hootsuite, Flickr and YouTube sites. On Monday, the same day the new Delta council was sworn in, the municipality launched its Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts.

"These platforms provide a new way for us, as your local government, to connect with Delta residents," said Mayor Lois Jackson. "Embracing these technologies provides us with opportunities to listen to, inform and engage our citizens."

The aim of the social media pages is to connect residents with municipal services, events, programs and contests in the parks department, traffic alerts, emergency weather notifications and media releases.

Links to Delta's Facebook, Twitter and YouTube sites can be found on the municipality's website, www.corp. delta.bc.ca or at facebook.com/CorpofDelta, twitter.com/CorpDelta, and youtube.com/ CorpDelta.
