Looking at crime trends for May 31-June 6. This last week saw a fairly stable number of violent crime with five assaults and one robbery.
Property crime also saw relatively consistent numbers of major offences but an overall decrease due in part to a large drop in thefts from autos.
Geographically, there were hot spots of activity in both Ladner and North Delta.
Tsawwassen was also hit with an unusual number of residential break and enters, with three in one week.
Year-to-date the department is currently up seven per cent in person offences and four per cent in property crime.
VEHICLE
THEFTS There were four auto thefts, plus the thefts of a trailer, with four in North Delta and one in Ladner - one was recovered in Coquitlam and another was recovered near where it was stolen. Officers also recovered four vehicles stolen outside Delta.
BES There were a total of four business break-ins - two in Ladner, one in Tilbury and one in North Delta. Residential BEs were up to six from five the previous week - three in Tsawwassen, two in Ladner and one in North Delta. All three of the Tsawwassen break-ins took place on the same day, Sunday, during the day.
Two community mailboxes in North Delta were also targeted by thieves. Mailboxes were pried open and mail was stolen.
VEHICLE BES Thefts from autos saw a significant decrease with just five reports in one week, down from 17 the previous week.
OFFENCES AGAINST
PERSONS Persons offences were down this past week with five assaults and one robbery. Of the five assaults, four were domestic disputes and one was a fight between students.
