The following are some of the calls the Delta police responded to in the previous week: Tsawwassen

March 6, 4:55 p.m., 4800-block of 53rd Street: Vehicle left in parking lot was entered sometime overnight by an unknown person. There was no damage to the vehicle as it was left unlocked. Items stolen included a 32GB iPad. An attempt to locate the iPad with the GPS search system did not pinpoint the exact location of the iPad and a search of the area by police proved negative.

March 7, 3:57 p.m., 5500-block of 15B Avenue:

Report received that two storage lockers were broken into sometime over the last several days. Investigation found three lockers had been entered by prying the hinges out of the wooden lockers. The scene was checked for fingerprints but nothing of significance found.

March 8, 9:30 a.m., 5500-block of Summer Way: Complainant reported seeing two suspicious people in the yard. One of the suspects was in the driveway while the other was standing by the shed eyeing the lock. Both the suspects fled when they saw the complainant at the door.

Ladner

March 5, 8:21 p.m., 7000-block of 72nd Street: Police investigating a hit and run collision noticed symptoms of alcohol consumption and the odour of alcohol on the driver's breath. The driver refused to provide a sample of breath into an approved screening device and as a result was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition. The driver was picked up from the scene and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

March 6, 8:05 p.m., River Road/Alexander Road: Police were operating a traffic control point when a driver attempted to bypass the officer. The driver provided a breath sample into an approved screening device, resulting in a FAIL reading but a second test resulted in a WARN reading. The driver was issued a three-day immediate roadside prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

March 7, 12:01 a.m., 4400-block of Arthur Drive: Police pulled over a vehicle observed swerving within the lanes and travelling below the posted speed limit. The driver smelled strongly of alcohol and admitted to consuming several beers. The driver received a FAIL reading on two separate approved screening devices and was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

Did you know? If a peace officer suspects you are affected by alcohol while you have care and control of a motor vehicle they can demand you provide a sample of your breath into an approved screening device to measure your blood alcohol content. If the officer intends to issue you an immediate roadside prohibition, the officer is then required to offer you a second opportunity to provide a sample of your breath into a different approved screening device. If the results differ, the lower of the two results will prevail. If you refuse to provide a breath sample, you will be issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and mandatory 30-day vehicle impound.
