Residents throughout Metro Vancouver felt an earthquake with magnitude 4.8 which occurred near Saanich, B.C. late Tuesday evening. The Pacific Northwest Seismic Network confirmed it happened around 11:40 p.m. The U.S. Geological Survey reported the quake 23 kilometres north of Victoria and that the seismic activity was reportedly 42 kilometres deep. Several residents along the Surrey/Delta border stood outside their homes afterward to find out what happend. Several said they could feel a brief tremour followed by a loud bang or thud on their top floors. According to Delta police chief Neil Dubord, the tsunami warning centre indicated there's no risk of a tsunami for the province and there's no early reports of damage or injuries in Delta.
