Ladner baseball player Austin Ell will be continuing his career in North Dakota next fall.

The Grade 12 Delta secondary student has signed a National Letter of Intent with the University of Mary in Bismark. Ell becomes Marauders baseball's second commitment during the early signing period.

"We look for Austin to fit into our system and he has a really good understanding of our pitching philosophy," said Mary coach Joel Barta. "He is a very projectable player that has a chance to be a dual player long-term. He is a very important piece for us and has a strong desire to work hard on a daily basis. Austin has a very high ceiling."

A left-handed pitcher and first baseman for the North Delta Blue Jays in the B.C. Premier Baseball League, Ell was named the most valuable player at the Best of the West Kamloops tournament.
