Events to mark Migratory Bird Day

There are local events planned to mark International Migratory Bird Day. Bird Migrations: Birds and Their Endangered Habitat is set for Saturday, May 2 at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre.

There are local events planned to mark International Migratory Bird Day.

Bird Migrations: Birds and Their Endangered Habitat is set for Saturday, May 2 at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre. It will include the opening of an exhibit (which runs for the month of May) of paintings of photos of birds and local bird-related land/waterscapes,

speakers on wetlands, grasslands and bird migrations and a slide show of coastal ecosystems and some of the birds that migrate through them. Biologist Kathy Martin along with Pamela Zevit and Tamsin Baker from the South Coast Conservation Program are scheduled to speak.

It starts at 6:30 p.m. There is no charge but advance registration is appreciated by calling 604-943-9437.

A Mother's Day Tea with the Birds is set for Sunday, May 10 at Cammidge House in Boundary Bay Regional Park.

There will be interactive and educational displays, an intertidal/shoreline walk, an upland birding walk and more. There is no charge or registration.
