A recent family charity hockey tournament, organized by Dave Kraemer, helped raise $1,300 for KidSport Delta.

The spirit of giving back to the community has already started in 2020.

South Delta’s Dave Kraemer held a family hockey tournament fundraiser at the Ladner Leisure Centre to help kick off the new year.

Thanks to the support of friends, neighbours and family, the tournament raised $1,300, which was donated to KidSport Delta.

“We wanted to do something like this to allow siblings and parents to play together,” said Kraemer. “Some of the kids are off to university now and don’t play, so it is fun for them to get the gear out again. We thought it would be great to have a charitable element, especially this time of year, whereby even the kids can throw a few dollars in. KidSport was the perfect charity for us.

“I think we all recognize not only how much sport has brought to our lives, but also how lucky we all are to be living in a community like South Delta, so if we can help others experience what we all have, that is awesome.”

Carlene Lewall from KidSport Delta said the organization truly appreciates the donation that resulted from the hockey tournament.

“The motto of KidSport is ‘So All Kids can Play’. It is exactly what these families believe,” said Lewall.

KidSport Delta helps families in Delta that would otherwise not be able to enroll their children in organized sport. KidSport Delta can assist with up to $500 per calendar year.
