Another fundraiser benefitting Loranda Farms is set for next weekend.

The farm’s barn, which was home to Loranda Stables and Kitty Kottage, was destroyed by fire last Wednesday night.

Organizer Lisa Ochoa-Rangno said as soon as she heard about the fire she knew she wanted to do something to help out owner Micaela Robinson. She said her daughter ran a horse rescue operation out of the barn a few years ago that wouldn’t have taken off without Robinson’s help.

Ochoa-Rangno, a Delta resident, works for Richmond’s OHM Medical, which, among other services, provides resuscitation equipment and customized medical workshops.

She said she came up with the idea of creating a fundraising event where the public could come out, have fun and learn the life-saving skills of CPR and using an AED.

“Let’s breathe life back into Loranda Farms after their devastating fire and help them rebuild their life’s work,” she said, adding the CPR awareness event could also help residents learn how to save a life.

The event is set for Saturday, Feb. 13 at Hawthorne Elementary from noon to 2 p.m. The event is by donation with a minimum of $5.

Donations can be made at the door or through e-transfer to [email protected].

There are also two online fundraisers for Loranda Farms and Pathfinder Pet Care, an adjacent business that has been without power since the fire. They can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/8fjv8zsc and https://www.gofundme.com/fsmwt5yk.

The Loranda Farms fundraiser has raised more than $15,000 since it was started just hours after the fire and the Pathfinder Pet Care page has raised more than $800 to help pay for the gas needed to run generators to power the business and residence.

A bottle and tack drive for Loranda Farms has been organized for this weekend. Donations are being accepted at Ladner Baptist Church between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. Tack donations for the horses and their owners can also be dropped off at the church.
