Forum set to share info on well-being of kids

New research to be unveiled at pair of meetings next week at Delta School District office

DeltaKids is hosting a community forum to share new research on the wellbeing of children and their families in Delta.

The forum will be held twice on Thursday, Dec. 1, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and again from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Both sessions will be in the board room of the Delta School District office, 4585 Harvest Dr., Ladner.

Everyone is welcome to attend and learn the latest on the physical, social, emotional and cognitive development of children up to the age of 12 and on families' experiences of life in Delta. The forum will cover:

What's working well in Delta.

Child development vulnerability rates in Delta.

How early experiences shape the brain.

Resources to apply this information at work and home.

The research comes from the Early Development Instrument from the Human Early Learning Partnership at UBC, the Child Friendly Survey results from DeltaKids, and Is "Good", Good Enough? A report on the health well-being of children youth in BC from Child Health BC and the BC Ministry.

DeltaKids is a coalition of 15 community partners that works to build Delta's capacity as a child-friendly community where all children thrive. For more, visit www.deltakids.ca.
