Fourth suspect convicted in Tsaw. man's murder

Fifth and final accused in slaying of Bill Dobbs in California in 2007 is scheduled to go to trial next spring

A fourth person has been convicted in the 2007 murder of a Tsawwassen man in California.

Over the weekend, Rogelio Leon Zuniga was convicted of first-degree murder in the slaying of Bill Dobbs by a Riverside, California Superior Court jury. He is scheduled to be sentenced in February and faces a maximum penalty of life in prison with no possibility of parole.

Earlier this year, Jackie Lynn Dunson, Fernando Antonio Benavidez and Ronald Wesley Handwerk were also convicted of first-degree murder in the case and sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole.

Robert Lee Dunson, Jackie's brother, is also charged in Dobbs' murder. His trial is expected to go ahead in the spring. The deputy district attorney plans to seek the death penalty for Dunson, if he is convicted.

Dobbs, 48, was vacationing in the area with his common-law wife when he was found murdered on the side of the road in Indio, California in November 2007.

He was last seen alive leaving the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino with another man, later identified as Fernando Antonio Benavidez, at around 3: 45 a.m. on Nov. 26, 2007.

A passing motorist found his body on the side of an Indio road the next day. He had been beaten and his throat had been slashed.

The avid golfer was a longtime member of the Beach Grove Golf Club. He had two grown children and a grandson. Dobbs had a family-owned window cleaning and janitorial company.
