Fraser Health is moving to a vaccine hub model for COVID-19 vaccinations.

In a news release, the health authority outlined its transition plans.

“As new initiatives are underway and vaccine rates increase, it is a natural transition for the provincial immunization program to move to new models as planned,” said Fraser Health. “For Fraser Health, we will transition from our distributed network of immunization clinics into a hub model, utilizing our existing clinics in Abbotsford, Coquitlam, Surrey and North Delta to ensure vaccine remains available in a mass clinics setting as well.”

Starting today (July 29), Fraser Health’s mass immunization clinics will be at the North Delta Rec Centre, Abbotsford Ag Rec (offering both COVID-19 testing and immunizations), Poirier Forum in Coquitlam and Guildford Rec Centre in Surrey.

COVID-19 Immunization will also continue to be available at COVID-19 Testing and Immunization Centres in Hope, Chilliwack, Mission, Langley, South Delta, South Surrey, Surrey 66, Coquitlam and Burnaby.

“More than two million COVID-19 doses have now been administered in the Fraser Health region, an important milestone in contributing to B.C.’s overall immunization rate,” says Fraser Health. “In our region over 80 per cent of all eligible people have been immunized with at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine and over 60 per cent of people have now received their second dose.

“Fraser Health is committed to ensuring everyone who wants to be protected against COVID-19 by being immunized has access to the vaccine. We continue to ramp up our pop up clinics, mobile clinics, outreach clinics and community initiatives to meet people where they are congregating so access to vaccine is easy.

Fraser Health adds that people in the health region who are seeking their first or second doses will continue to be able to quickly and efficiently access vaccines at one of their four hubs, at a COVID-19 Testing and Immunization Centre, at one of their outreach or neighbourhood clinics, or at one of their community initiatives, such as beach-side immunization clinics. Many appointments will be available, including same-day appointments, evenings and weekends. Drop in’s also welcome.

“As we move into the next phase of our COVID-19 response and immunization efforts, we would like to acknowledge the tremendous contributions of our clinical and non-clinical staff, clinic operators, immunizers, industry partners and communities who have helped us reach this important milestone as we continue to improve vaccine coverage across our region,” said Fraser Health.
