More than 17 free or low-cost activities are being offered in Richmond to celebrate BC Youth Week.

The City of Richmond is celebrating young Richmondites with more than 17 free or low-cost activities starting next Wednesday.

To kick off BC Youth Week, which runs from May 1 to May 7, the city will celebrate the achievements of local youth at the annual U-ROC Awards on Wednesday.

Activities on offer include free workshops for art and lifesaving sport and a youth clothing shop where youth aged 13 to 18 years old can pick up three "new to you" items for free from Cambie Community Centre's game room.

Young Richmondites can also participate in free sports events such as pickleball and swimming sessions, as well as tournaments for basketball, volleyball and dodgeball.

As well, a triathlon involving three challenges — trivia, cooking and charades — will be held with prizes available for the winning team, as well as a free BBQ celebration.

Those curious about a career in media arts can also check out a drop-in session at the Richmond Media Lab.

For a full list of activities and to register, visit the City of Richmond's Youth Week events page.
