Re: Too busy to meet - with us, Murphy's Law, May 1

Thank you once again for an excellent editorial on this subject. I find it most unfortunate that the MLA for Delta North chose to make a rude attack on his colleague for doing her job by representing her constituents.

The facts are as follows to my knowledge: in October 2014, doctors sent a letter to Health Minister Terry Lake. The Ministry of Health called Dr Robert Shaw, promising a meeting. This has still not been scheduled.

Also in October 2014, doctors met with the interim CEO of Fraser Health at which the CEO agreed to the need for four surgical beds in principle. A few days later, FHA retracted this agreement in writing.

In February 2015, over 250 concerned citizens heard the MLA for Delta North promise a meeting with Lake "in a couple of weeks." The meeting has still not taken place, despite letters from Delta mayor and council and from Tsawwassen First Nation's chief and council.

By now, North Delta residents (who use Delta Hospital in equal numbers to those of us in South Delta) must be realizing that electing a member of this sitting government is no way to get their concerns raised.

When have we heard of a Liberal MLA speaking out against the party's policy or voting against proposed legislation? Delta South MLA Vicki Huntington works tirelessly on behalf of her constituents. Other MLAs should take note.
