Here is how much rain to expect in Vancouver over the long weekend

Metro Vancouverites looking forward to a sun-soaked long weekend might find the weather forecast decidedly underwhelming. 

While Canada's national weather forecaster says the region can likely expect a warmer than average fall season this year, the Labour Day long weekend forecast looks rather wet. 

While Friday (Sept. 3) is expected to see some sunshine, increasing cloudiness will usher in a 60 per cent chance of showers during the day on Saturday. Additionally, the overnight forecast includes periods of rain. 

Sunday also looks dreary, with a 60 per cent chance of showers during the day and a 30 per cent chance of showers overnight. 

Locals will likely enjoy a dry Labour Day, however, as the forecast includes a mix of sun and cloud during the day.

Environment Canada is calling for a warmer than average autumn on the south coast of B.C. in its complete forecast released Sept.1 — the first day of meteorological fall. 

This winter La Niña could also impact temperatures in the Lower Mainland region, as well as the amount of snow. Currently, the federal weather forecaster's models are indicating that there is a "medium" chance of a weak La Niña this winter but that its effects won't show until December.
