Police are looking for the driver of this vehicle after it hit two pedestrians while they were on a marked crosswalk in Burquitlam on Jan. 21, 2023, and sped away from the scene.

Two pedestrians were seriously hit by a vehicle last month while trying to walk across a marked crosswalk in Coquitlam.

Now, RCMP are turning to the public in hopes of finding the suspect(s) involved in the Burquitlam neighbourhood hit and run.

Police were called to the scene at 11 p.m. on Jan. 21 near the intersection of Smith Avenue and Dogwood Street, where the victims were struck by a vehicle that sped away afterwards.

In a release, spokesperson Cpl. Alexa Hodgins said the pedestrians were taken to hospital to be treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Hodgins said the vehicle, seen in the above photo, is described as a newer model white Honda sedan or possibly an SUV.

It may also have minor damage on the front and might be missing the Honda logo from its hood, she added.

As efforts to find the suspect(s) have come up short, RCMP are hoping the public can provide witness statements and evidence that can help move the investigation forward.

This includes dash cam, surveillance, cell phone and general video footage.

Anyone with more information about the hit and run is asked to call Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and quote file-number 2023-1990.
