South Delta resident Shannon Asseiro posted in the Ladner’s Landing Facebook group over the weekend about her role in this ‘good news’ story.

“About nine months ago I posted about a baby eagle that I found injured at Deas Island. We called the volunteers from OWL, and they were there within half an hour to rescue him,” she said. “The amazing volunteers and staff at OWL have done their magic and he is now a healthy young eagle and ready for release.

“Today we were so excited to be invited to be part of his release. I think if I were an eagle, I would think twice about leaving OWL as it is such a fantastic facility, but both of these guys took off right away. Although they did seem to hang around the buildings a bit afterwards.

"As you can see from the pictures, he certainly has grown a lot from the little fuzzy guy we found to the majestic young eagle they set free today.”
