To celebrate the 100th birthday of the Kirkland House, a public celebration will take place tomorrow at 2: 30 p.m. that will feature activities for children, entertainment, light refreshments and tours of the house.

The Kirkland House is a 1911 Edwardian farmhouse located at 4140 Arthur Dr., Ladner. In 2004, the Corporation of Delta took ownership of the house as a result of a land exchange.

The Kirkland House Foundation now leases the house and the property directly from Delta. The foundation is a not-forprofit volunteer organization that is dedicated to the restoration of this pioneer farm home and grounds.

Kirkland House is a showplace entry point to Ladner and serves as a productive gathering place for small non-profit community groups and events that contribute to the preservation and improvement of the social and cultural fabric of Delta.

The house and grounds are available to rent for weddings, meetings and other functions. Any money made through rentals, fundraising events and donations is invested back into the ongoing restoration costs.

In honour of the 100th birthday milestone, a program is being introduced to encourage donations of furniture and other goods, made prior to 1910, to display in the house.
