A Tsawwassen resident has been identified as the victim in a recent Langley murder.

Taylor Daniel Johnson, 21, was found dead last Tuesday night in a home in the 2000-block of 200th Street.

According to Sgt. Jennifer Pound, spokesperson for the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, Johnson was a caretaker for the supposedly vacant property where he was found dead.

He was found at the house after Langley RCMP received a call asking officers to check on his wellbeing. Officers discovered Johnson's body, as well as a marijuana grow-op on the rural property.

The 21-year-old did not have a criminal record, Pound said in a press release.

A neighbour of the site, who asked not to be named, said she knew a man who appeared to be living on the site until just a few days before the murder.

She described the man living there as in his late 40s or early 50s.

The property did not appear to be fully vacant, with grass cut and trees trimmed relatively recently. The gate at the end of the driveway was always padlocked, according to the neighbour.
