Those 12-to-17 years old may now register to receive their COVID-19 vaccine.

The number of people in the City of Delta, overall, infected with COVID-19, has moved downward again, according the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) weekly map of municipalities released Thursday.

Covering the period May 9 to 15, Delta had 104 confirmed cases, down from 169 the previous week and 220 cases the week before that.

The latest map also indicates Surrey had 1,094 cases, down from 1,409 cases the previous week.

Meanwhile, according to the latest map, Richmond had 108 cases, Langley had 115 cases, Abbotsford had 315 cases, Burnaby had 316 cases and Vancouver stood at 572 cases.

The BCCDC last week on its website released more detailed COVID-19 case information on a community level within municipalities, something the City of Delta had been requesting since the start of the pandemic last year.

A colour coded map of hot spots indicates that numbers are down overall in Delta, but North Delta remained a hot spot for infections, while Tsawwassen has one of the lowest rates of infections in the Lower Mainland.

The provincial government this week also noted that for anyone immunized before April 15, prior to the government’s online system launching, the immunization system has people’s vaccine information but may not have their contact information. This is why it is important for everyone to register to simplify notification for their second dose booking when it is their turn.
