According to the BCCDC, North Delta remains a hot spot for infections in the region but cases are moving down.

The number of people in the City of Delta infected with COVID-19 is continuing an overall downward trend.

That’s according to the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) weekly map of municipalities released Thursday.

Covering the period May 16 to 22, the map indicates Delta had 95 confirmed cases, down for a third straight week.

The latest map also indicates Surrey had 721 cases, down from 1,094 cases in last week’s map and from 1,409 cases the week prior to that.

Meanwhile, according to the latest map, Richmond had 49 cases, Langley had 104 cases, Abbotsford had 257 cases, Burnaby had 243 cases and Vancouver stood at 393 cases.

The BCCDC recently released more community-specific information including case rates from May 18 to 24, indicating that over the seven-day period Delta had 97 cases.

The new information also includes a map of the average daily case rates per 100,000 population, from May 18 to 24.

That map indicates that per 100,000 population, Ladner had five cases, Tsawwassen had four while North Delta had 19.

The province says it's crucial for the restart plan that everyone gets registered and vaccinated.
