Laura Dixon was reelected as chair of the Delta Board of Education Tuesday.

It's the second year as chair for Dixon, first elected to the school board in 2008.

At the inaugural meeting of the third year of the board's three-year term Tuesday night, trustees unanimously elected Dixon to return as chairperson and Val Windsor to the position of vice-chairperson.

Dixon then expressed her sincere gratitude to all those throughout the school district who put forward their very best effort to make a difference in the lives of students.

"You should all know that trustees travel throughout the year to every corner of the Delta School District, and at every event and celebration we attend, trustees are thrilled

to see how staff and students model our values of caring, respect, responsibility, excellence and building community," she said.

Dixon took the time to thank all members of the senior management team for their continued dedication to realize the district's vision to be a leader for innovative teaching and learner success.

Special appreciation was given to superintendent Dianne Turner, deputy superintendent

Garnet Ayres and assistant superintendent Doug Sheppard as well as trustee Dale Saip, the former board chair.
