Legally Blonde the Musical is the next big show to hit the stage at Equinox Theatre.

The South Delta Secondary production, which includes 85 students, is a really fun show, says producer and director Jennifer Harbott.

The story, which is also a novel and movie, follows main character Elle Woods, a Malibu sorority girl, as she heads to Harvard Law School in an effort to win back her ex-boyfriend.

Along the way she figures out she is smart enough to do it on her own, says Harbott.

"It's a really great story about being yourself, being true to who you are and living to your full potential." Grade 11 student Maude Green plays Woods. It's her

first time tackling musical theatre and she says it's a lot of work and a bit scary but she's enjoying rehearsals and running through the songs.

"It's really cool to see everything starting to come together now," she says.

Co-director Richard Cox says it's a very funny show with some amazing actors.

Legally Blonde the Musical (music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin and book by Heather Hach) runs at Equinox Theatre May 1 and May 5 to 8. Show times are May 1 and 5 to 8 at 7 p.m. and then May 1 and 5 at 12 p.m. Tickets cost $15 for adults, $12 for students and seniors, and $5 for kids under 10.
