Load up the family vehicle and plan a day full of interest for each family member. Your itinerary will include visits to the first joint event between the Cammidge House, Delta Heritage Air Park and Earthwise Farm.
For those that would rather walk or cycle the dike, maps will be available with details of activities.
Soon to be 100 years old, Cammidge House in Boundary Bay Regional Park will host an art fair and open house between 1 and 3 p.m.
Earlier Saturday morning, plein air artists - those who paint on location outdoors, without studio work, portraits or working from photographs - will set up their easels in the park and by afternoon, weather permitting, displays will be set up on Cammidge House verandas.
Inside the lovely old home visitors can view captivating photographs of nature and park scenery as well as pottery and additional paintings by local artists.
The history of the 1914 home will be outlined in a static display on presentation boards. Members of the volunteer committee will serve refreshments and offer tours of the house.
The nearby Earthwise Farm, at the corner of 3rd Avenue and Boundary Bay Road, is hosting a Tomato Festival, sponsored by VanCity, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thirty-five varieties of heirloom tomatoes will be highlighted, including Red Brandywine, Green Zebra, White Queen, Banana Legs, Malachite Box and many more.
Seasonal produce, honey and locally milled flour will be available for sale in the Earthwise Farm Store.
Music and a children's entertainer will add to the market atmosphere.
The final destination, Delta Heritage Air Park, lies on the shore of Boundary Bay at the south end of 104th Street.
An open house between 1 and 3 p.m. will allow visitors to view the planes, hear stories of flight and learn interesting facts from aviation veterans. The small café, renowned for its soup and hamburgers, will be open.
Delta Heritage Air Park is a unique, uncontrolled aerodrome in a natural park-like setting and is home to many vintage models.
