Those who liked to drink and socialize, sing karaoke or attend a meat draw at the Delta Lion Pub will have to frequent another pub because the establishment is closing its doors this month.

A North Delta institution will be serving its last pint later this month.

The owners of the Delta Lion Pub, located at a strip mall at 11186 84 Ave, confirmed through their website and social media that their last day will be Saturday Jan. 28.

“It is with profound sadness that after 46 years the Delta Lion will be pouring her last pint at the end of this month. We have had an amazing run and it has been our absolute pleasure serving you. But unfortunately, the time has come to dim the lights and say goodnight for the last time,” a statement by the Mahony family reads.

“We wish to extend a sincere thank you to all of you who has walked through our doors and we appreciate your support and understanding of this difficult decision.”

Last November saw the closing of another longtime North Delta pub, the Sundowner, that opened back in 1980.
