Delta chief administrative officer (CAO) George Harvie was recognized for his longtime service and accomplishments at council Monday. Mayor Lois Jackson announced that Harvie, whose family was in attendance, received a longtime service pin from the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators. The organization as a membership of approximately 500 city managers, chief administrative officers and senior appointed officials from all parts of Canada.
Harvie, a Boundary Bay resident for over 30 years, has been with the Corporation of Delta since 2001 following a lengthy career as a senior manager with the City of Burnaby. Harvie was originally brought in to help Delta council draft agricultural bylaws. In 2002, council appointed him CAO. In 2008, he received a four-year contract extension, which began in 2009.
