Mall break-in witnesses sought

Police want to talk to couple walking in area when thieves hit Town Centre Mall jewelry store

Delta police are looking for the public's help after an early morning break-in at a local mall earlier this week.

Sometime between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. on Sunday unknown suspects broke into a jewelry store at the Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall. Police are looking for anyone who might have heard or seen anything suspicious in the area around that time.

Police spokesperson A/Sgt. Sarah Swallow said some items were taken from the store but could not confirm at this time how much was stolen or the value of the missing items.

Investigators are hoping to speak to two possible witnesses who were walking a dog in that area at around 7:15 a.m. Swallow said the pair is not suspected in the theft but was captured on an outdoor surveillance camera at the time of the break-in.

The man and woman did several laps in the area, passing by the east doors of the mall several times.

The woman is described as having black hair, wearing dark pants, dark shoes with some white, and a red jacket with a hood.

The man has graying hair and was wearing dark pants and a grey sweater or jacket.

Swallow stressed the two are not considered suspects in the incident.

Anyone who was in the area of Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall on Sunday, Dec. 1 between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m., or who believes they may have information on this incident, is asked to contact the Delta police non-emergency line at 604-946-4411.
