Man seen slumped over in vehicle is just tired

Police request driver turn engine off until ready to go

The following are some of the calls of interest the Delta police responded to in the South Delta area between Thursday, March 7 and Saturday, March 9:

Tsawwassen

. March 8, 9: 48 p.m., Highway 17 and Tsawwassen Drive: During a traffic stop the driver admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle and was arrested for possession. A search of the vehicle revealed one gram of marijuana. The passenger was found to have an outstanding warrant and was arrested. The marijuana was seized for destruction and the driver released at the scene.

. March 9, 11: 22 a.m., 1000-block of 56th Street: A report was received that the door of a business was unlocked and had set off the alarm. Police arrived and met with the person responsible for the lab who stated nothing appeared suspicious inside and that her cleaners must have left the back door unlocked.

. March 9, 1: 33 a.m., 1200-block of 56th Street: Two males were observed smashing glass. As the police arrived the suspects fled on foot. Police were able to apprehend one of the suspects who was arrested for mischief and causing a disturbance.

Damage caused by a beer bottle hitting the window: $400.

Ladner

. March 7, 1: 42 p.m., 5100-block of Whitworth Crescent: Sometime overnight an unlocked vehicle was entered and ransacked. Items stolen include $10 in change and CDs.

. March 8, 6: 58 p.m., 4600-block of 51st Street: Police located several youths behind the secondary school drinking and being loud. The youths were required to clean up the grounds, warned and escorted off the property.

. March 8, 11: 37 p.m., 4800-block of Elliott Street: A vehicle with the engine running and a male slumped over the front seat was reported to police.

Investigators found a male, who due to his state of tiredness, had pulled over to the side of the road. Police requested the driver remain in the parked car with the engine off until he felt able to drive safely.

. March 9, 6: 14 p.m., 5200-block of Ladner Trunk Road: Police responded to a report of an intoxicated person being difficult as a result of being refused service at the liquor store. Police informed the suspect that any store can refuse service to any customer whether intoxicated or not. Suspect subsequently left the area.
