Its uniqueness will keep people coming back.

Ivanhoe Cambridge is showing a high degree of confidence in the long-term success of its newly opened Tsawwassen Mills, a mix of premium fashion brands, outlet stores, first-to-market shops, food and entertainment, pointing to how it’s something completely different than any other retail centre in this province.

Tsawwassen Mills GM Mark Fenwick said given the success of the company’s other two similar malls in Calgary and Toronto, it has high hopes for Tsawwassen Mills.

“Shoppers are going to have a unique experience when they come here. This is a mall like no other that is offered here in the Lower Mainland. There is a great mix of outlets, full prices stores, our anchor stores and the 18 stores that are new to market,” he said.

“Whether it is Saks OFF 5TH or Pro Hockey Life, or Bass Pro Shops, or the neighbourhoods, there is lots to explore. There is so much to see, whether it is the retailers, the art, the amenities — it’s an easy place to get around and shoppers will have a different experience every time they visit.”

Claude Sirois, president of retail for Ivanhoé Cambridge, said the Mills brand is well recognized as offering a unique combination.

“People more and more today are looking for value and the fact that we have scale allows us to offer something that’s unique. We have 18 first-to-market retailers that are part of this project today, including the Bass Pro, so we are very, very optimistic we will find our place in this market, and consumers are going to love everything about it, as per our marketing campaign,” he said.

The Tsawwassen First Nation, meantime, is set to become even more of a retail hub once Tsawwassen Commons is completed next door to Tsawwassen Mills.
