More Delta schools added to COVID-19 exposure list

Despite COVID-19 case counts and hospitalizations in B.C. steadily declining, the number of Delta schools on the health region’s COVID-19 exposure list at an all-time high

Youth ages 12 to 17 in B.C. can now register to get vaccinated, but immunizations will not be held in schools.

More Delta schools and the youth centre at the Tsawwassen First Nation have been added to Fraser Health’s COVID-19 exposure list.

According to the health region’s website of recent exposure events updated Tuesday, the TFN’s youth centre, which opened this February, had a COVID-19 exposure May 11 and 12.

The list also includes the Delta Manor Education Centre, which had an exposure event May 17 and 18, and Delta Secondary, which had an exposure event May 13, 18 and 19.

Other schools listed include: South Delta Secondary (May 12, 13, 14), Seaquam Secondary (May 13, 17, 18, 19), Sands Secondary (May 11), Richardson Elementary (May 12, 13), Pinewood Elementary (May 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19), North Delta Secondary (May 11), McCloskey Elementary (May 17), Holly Elementary (May 17, 18, 19), Gibson Elementary (May 11), Delview Secondary (May 12), Chalmers Elementary (May 11, 17, 18, 19, 20), Burnsview Secondary (May 11, 12, 13, 14, 17), Brooke Elementary (May 11, 12), Immaculate Conception (May 13, 14) and Southpointe Academy (May 11, 12, 13).

The health region won’t specify if those infected were students or staff or whether the listed dates of exposures involved multiple classes.
