Last week, the provincial government announced an investment of $4.2 million to support this ongoing service for people across the province.

NDP Delta South MLA Ravi Kahlon says people in Delta will continue to benefit from low and no-cost counselling services with the extension of funding for a local community agency.

“Last year at the start of the pandemic, we started seeing the mental health challenges pile up, and people being under so much stress,” said Kahlon. “We had actually gone out to organizations and awarded dollars and Deltassist was one of the recipients, so what we have done this time is give all of those organizations another year of funding so that they can continue to operate. They have all run these programs before, so they all qualify for the funding again.”

He said providing accessible mental health supports is a top priority for their government, and is essential for people’s continued resilience through the pandemic.

“Deltassist does such great work in our community. They are critically important to them all the time, but especially important during the pandemic,” he said.
