Two-way traffic flow and access to properties during the signal upgrades is to be maintained at all times.

Traffic signal and crosswalk upgrades are coming to additional intersections in Delta.

The city recently issued a request for proposals for signal improvements at 60 Avenue and 62B Street, 84 Avenue at 116 Street as well as 12 Avenue at Morris Crescent.

The upgrades at the three signal upgrade sites are to be completed by Aug. 30, 2024.

Meanwhile, the city’s Transportation Advisory Committee recently asked engineering staff to look at additional traffic calming at the traffic light at 52 Street and Springs Boulevard as well as review the traffic pattern at 28 Avenue and 53 Street.

The committee also discussed a request by a resident, who is concerned about speeding vehicles, to implement a three-way stop at the corner of English Bluff Road and 1 Avenue.

The committee was told staff reviewed traffic volumes in the area and found that, as it is a dead-end road, volumes remain low and did not warrant the addition. However, the installation of speed reader boards was proposed to raise awareness.

The committee was also told that the city won’t be eliminating on street parking on 75A Avenue.

Traffic calming improvements were made to 75A Avenue in 2002, including the addition of speed humps, raised crosswalks, sidewalks, curb extensions and a narrowing of the road.

Engineering staff noted the roadway is consistent with the local road standards and that removing parking may increase traffic and the potential for speeding.

The city, however, will be installing a full-signal intersection at 116 Street and 75A Avenue, as it is currently a two-way stop.

The engineering department also noted that increased development in the area will result in more secondary suites and the desire for additional parking.
