Latin Grammy and Junowinner Alex Cuba will be performing next Friday at Centennial Beach Café Uptown in Tsawwassen.

"He's one of the best musicians you'll ever see. He's the real deal," says restaurant owner Paul Roberts.

Roberts, who used to work in the music industry, says Cuba is an old friend of his.

It will be a dinner show in a way, he explains, noting dinner will start around 6 or 6:30 p.m. with Cuba going on at around 7 or 7:30 p.m. There is no cover charge but reservations are required through Uptown's Facebook page.

Cuba has a vast musical vision, his website says.

"His sugarcane-sweet melodies, pop-soul hooks and powerful guitar riffs, relinquish a conventional stereotype that exemplifies much of the Latin music landscape," it says.

The restaurant, which serves "casual beach fare," is located at 1127-56th St., Tsawwassen. Visit their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CentennialBeachUptown to make a reservation for next Friday's event.

Roberts says he's looking at bringing in other musical guests down the road.
