North Delta Crime Beat: Several vehicle break-ins reported

The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. *Sept. 12, 11800 Block of 80th Avenue: Complainant was informed that a package containing a collector’s helmet was delivered to the lobby of their building. When the complainant went to retrieve the package, they found the package had been opened, and the helmet was missing. Complainant was asked to inform Purolator of the theft and monitor Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist in case the helmet is offered for sale. Police obtained pictures of the helmet.

*Sept. 13, 11800 Block of 80th Avenue: Complainant reported the driver window of their vehicle, left in the parkade was smashed sometime overnight, and a bag stolen from the vehicle.  The bag contained miscellaneous papers, a Tim Hortons gift card, and a gas card. A screwdriver found beside the vehicle was seized by police for possible fingerprints. A file number was provided for ICBC purposes.

*Sept. 14, Public Safety Building, 11375 84th Avenue: Complainant reported they were the victim of identity theft, as a credit card was fraudulently opened in their name.  Complainant has cancelled the card and informed Equifax and TransUnion of the incident.  There was no loss of funds, police report being made for documentation purposes only. 

*Sept. 17, 7800 Block of 112A Street: Complainant parked their vehicle outside their resident and in the morning they found the vehicle had been stolen. An examination of surveillance video revealed a person getting into the vehicle and driving away. Due to poor lighting the surveillance video was not suitable for identification. No witnesses or suspects.  Complainant was provided with a file number for insurance purposes.

*Sept. 17, 7800 Block of 112th Street: Complainant reported the theft of personal and banking cards from the change room at the recreation centre. The debit card had been used successfully for a restaurant order but attempts at other locations were not successful.  Two businesses have surveillance video of the attempted use which will be examined for possible identification of the suspects.
