The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. *March 27, 9000 Block of 120th Street: A strata council member reported that video surveillance showed a suspect gaining entry to the building and using a pry bar to open several mailboxes in the lobby area, sorting through mail, and placing stolen mail into a bag before exiting the main doors. The suspect is described as Caucasian male, 5’7” tall, slim build, wearing a dark hoody, grey sweatpants, runners, and a medical mask. Face shot from surveillance video to be provided to police.

*March 28, Public Safety Building 11375 84th Avenue: Complainant reported that a fictitious Facebook friend was attempting to extort money from them by distributing explicit videos of the complainant to other Facebook friends. Caller was blocked but the complainant received further calls from different numbers, located in India, asking for money. Police advised the complainant to change phone numbers and account passwords to prevent any further extortion attempts and was provided with the website “StopNCII.org” as a resource to prevent further sharing of consensual images.

*March 28, 7800 Block of 112th Street: Complainant reported their wallet, containing bank and debit cards, Scene card, student ID, and $100 cash was stolen from their backpack left in an unlocked locker at the gym. No witnesses or suspects. All bank cards cancelled.

*March 29, 10900 Block of Scarborough Drive: Complainant reported the catalytic converter was stolen from their vehicle sometime overnight. Police provided with surveillance video. File number given for insurance purposes.

*April 1, 11900 Block Woodridge Crescent: Complainant reported the catalytic converter stolen, sometime overnight, from their vehicle parked in front of their residence.  Approximate damage is $2,000. Surveillance video shows two vehicles casing the area. One vehicle described as a newer model white SUV and the other an older silver four-door sedan. Crime Reduction Unit to examine surveillance video.

*April 1, 6500 Block of Sunwood Drive: Complainant reported the catalytic converter stolen, sometime overnight, from their vehicle parked across the street from their residence. Loss estimated at $1,000. No witnesses or surveillance video located. File number provided for ICBC reporting.
