North Delta resident Scott Broderick has declared his candidacy for Delta council in this fall's municipal election.
"I am excited to announce today that I will be running for one of the city council seats in this year's municipal election," he said.
"I am running because I refuse to stand by watching city council ignore wishes of our community. We need a council that actively listens to and acts on the needs of residents. I'm tired of candidates asking me what I want during the election race and then telling me what I want after they are elected, and I want to change that."
Broderick, 31, has spent the last 11 years in the transportation industry in a supervisory capacity. He's currently as a warehouse supervisor at Canada West.
According to his news release, Broderick is an active participant in the local theatre community and volunteers at his church, working with young adults and occasionally filling in for the pastor at a White Rock retirement home.
He most recently volunteered with the Fight HST campaign.
The municipal election takes place Nov. 19.
