OWL's annual open house is set for this weekend.

The Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society, located on 72nd Street in East Ladner, is a non-profit organization that rehabilitates and releases injured and orphaned birds of prey.

The open house, which runs both Saturday and Sunday, is a chance for the public to get a "behind the scenes" look at OWL's facility. Guests will be allowed through OWL's care centre, which includes the medical room and intensive care, as well as through some of the back cages, including the impressive pool cage.

The event will also feature environmental displays, a raffle and garage sale, children's activities, along with food from Blondie's Bun Works and Miss Betty's Cupcakes.

There will also be the release of a rehabilitated bird of prey each day of the open house at 1 p.m.

Admission is free and all proceeds and donations will go directly to OWL towards food and medical supplies for the birds in care. OWL relies on public, corporate and private donations to pay for operational costs. The open house takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14 at OWL, 3800-72nd St.
