Second-term Delta South MLA Ian Paton is throwing his support behind Kevin Falcon as the next leader of the BC Liberal Party.

“There is no one more qualified to be the next leader of the BC Liberal Party than Kevin Falcon, and I am proud to offer him my support and endorsement,” said Paton in a news release. “Kevin will change our party's name, and attract fresh, young, and diverse candidates from across the province. He will also open up the party to bold and visionary ideas that will put B.C. back on the map. Without question, Kevin has the vision, leadership, and communications skills to take on John Horgan, and win.”

As Minister of Transportation, Falcon was instrumental in building significant infrastructure projects across British Columbia, including the South Fraser Perimeter Road, Canada Line SkyTrain, Port Mann Bridge, Golden Ears Bridge, and Sea to Sky Highway upgrades.

“Kevin comes with a proven track record of getting things done - after four years of going nowhere under the NDP, our province needs a jump start. We need to build transportation infrastructure, housing, and hospitals again. The NDP studies. Kevin builds,” added Paton.

Paton, who serves as opposition agriculture critic, also noted Falcon’s strong understanding of the issues facing farmers across British Columbia.

“It's not farmland without farmers, and Kevin will fight to ensure that agricultural producers are once again able to make a decent living on their own land,” Paton said.

The vote to decide the next leader of the BC Liberal Party will be held on Feb. 5, 2022.

“I appreciate the endorsement from Ian. His dedication to his constituents is a model for representatives across B.C.,” said Falcon. “There is a real feeling of growth and momentum in our campaign and I’m enthused by the excitement being generated by my supporters. Ian represents a strong link to suburban voters and those who are passionate about our farmers. I look forward to working with him on these important issues facing Delta and our province.”
