A Delta police officer sustained minor injuries last week after a scuffle with a suspected impaired driver.
On Saturday night, Delta police received a report of a possible impaired driver.
After starting a search, officers located a man asleep in the vehicle in the parking lot of a gas station at highways 10 and 99 at around 1 a.m. Sunday.
As police tried to take the man, who was impaired, into custody he began to fight and attempted to disarm the officer. Additional officers responded to the scene to help gain control of the man and he was taken into custody without further incident.
One officer sustained a minor wrist injury in the melee.
The man was arrested for impaired driving and assaulting a police officer. He was held in custody pending an appearance in court.
