The local Probus club is hosting a meeting next week to discuss port related developments and plans for the future.

Probus South Delta is holding its monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 18 at the Coast Tsawwassen Inn.

Probus is an association of active retirees that wish to stimulate thought, interest and participation and are from all avenues of business and professions.

When Port Metro Vancouver cancelled a planned presentation, the club called on Roger Emsley, who has been following the port authority's plans for the last 10 years and has been involved with Against Port Expansion, to step in and provide an overview from his perspective.

The presentation will cover a number of topics, including the history of Deltaport, how it expanded and where it is today; PMV's expansion plans; the environmental and ecological significance of Roberts Bank; and, why, in his opinion, expansion isn't needed.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. It is free and open to all Delta residents.
