Delta's Recreation Pass Program is expanding for 2013.

It will now include a free 10-admission pass for Grade 7 students along with an increase from 10 free admissions to a full one-year complimentary recreation pass for Grade 6 students.

"This program has put Delta at the forefront of encouraging youth to be physically active in our community," said Mayor Lois Jackson. "By increasing access to our Recreation Pass Program, we are helping these students adopt an active lifestyle at an early age and become lifelong users of Delta's recreation facilities."

Earlier this year, Delta council voted to expand the Recreation Pass Program, which Delta has offered for the past seven years as a free one-year admission pass to Grade 5 students and 10 free admissions to Grade 6 students.

The program includes free access to drop-in skating, swim and gym programs at all municipal facilities.

With the one-year pass, Grade 5 and 6 students are permitted to bring along a person over the age of 13 for free.

Students may obtain the one-year Grade 6 pass and 10 free admissions pass for Grade 7 students at any Delta recreation facility after Jan. 1. To obtain the pass, students must present proof of birth date and Delta residence.
