Ladner teams dominated the recent Newton Minor Baseball Ross Midget AA Tournament, including an all Ladner championship game with the Red Sox slipping past the Black Sox 7-6. All three local teams finished first in their roundrobin groups, with the Blue Jays joining their rivals as tournament contenders.

The Red Sox came out strong, allowing only four runs in three games, to reach the semi-finals. The entire team contributed to a sound defensive effort with clutch plays from all the players throughout the weekend. Strong pitching came from Bhavan Dhaliwal (MVP), Isaac Embree (MVP), Devin Basi (MVP), Justin MacKenzie and Daelen Magcalas (MVP), while stellar fielding was provided by Colton Moubert, David Copeland, Drake Carruthers, Kyle Clancy, Nick Carlson, Stuart Hodgins (MVP) and Taylor Adamson.

The Red Sox bats were inconsistent in the semifinals against host Newton Athletics but solid defense and great base running resulted in a 7-6 win. The Black Sox got past the Blue Jays in the other final four match-up.

Unavailable for the tournament were Eric and Jackson Goodman. The Red Sox coaching staff includes: Geoff Moubert, Bruce Hodgins, Sean Clancy and Tyler Honigman. The team is looking forward to the upcoming league play downs and playoffs.
