The tender package for the nine sites does not include improvements also planned for several other locations, as the others will be part of a separate request for proposals.

Crosswalk, streetlight and traffic signal improvements are coming to several locations throughout the City of Delta.

The City of Delta has issued a request for bids for a contractor to construct sidewalks, crosswalks and traffic lights to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility at nine locations.

The work includes the installation of approximately 260-square-metres of sidewalk, 200 linear metres of barrier curb and gutter, three sets of traffic lights, five sets of crosswalk lights, one set of pathway lighting, as well as installation of street lighting and required retrofit upgrades.

The locations include: Cliveden Avenue at Eaton Way, 53A Street at 10 Avenue, 48 Avenue at Garry Street/Bridget Street, 115 Street at 75A Avenue, 112 Street at Devon Gardens Elementary, 1 Avenue at 55A Street, Arthur Drive and Sacred Heart School, pathway lighting between Nordel Way and Dunlop Road and improvements at the intersection at River Road and Ferry Road.

Most of the works are to be completed no later than Dec. 31, 2023.

The work at 112 Street at Devon Gardens Elementary and the Arthur Drive and Sacred Heart Elementary work should be completed three months earlier.

The request for tenders notes that the work hours may be limited if significant complaints are raised by surrounding residents and there is no other way to satisfy their concerns.
