The Delta/Richmond chapter of the Council of Canadians will host filmmaker Twyla Roscovich for a showing of her groundbreaking new production: Salmon Confidential. The film documents the government cover up of what's killing B.C.'s wild salmon.

The film will be screened tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the Ladner Community Centre.

The film documents biologist Alexandra Morton's journey as she attempts to overcome government and industry roadblocks thrown in her path and works to bring critical information to the public in time to save B.C.'s wild salmon.

The film provides surprising insight into the inner workings of government agencies, as well as rare footage of the bureaucrats tasked with managing our fish and the safety of our food supply.

Roscovich's visit is part of a province-wide tour that has seen packed venues everywhere the film is shown. After the screenings, Roscovich hosts an always-lively discussion about the making of the film, the politics and how people can come together to restore the wild salmon economy.

Fishing was one of the foundations of Ladner and the central role of wild salmon to the people of the area goes back long before settlement, and continues today. The survival of wild salmon is critical to the health of the entire ecosystem of the coast.

The tour aims to raise public awareness of the lethal danger posed to wild salmon by fish farms in the lead up to the May 14 provincial election.

It is challenging political parties and candidates to take a stand and strengthening the movement to put a moratorium on new fish farms.
