July 3, 600 Block of Gilchrist Drive:  Complainant reported the rear driver window of their vehicle was smashed while parked on the street.  Nothing was removed from the vehicle.  No surveillance video or witnesses.

July 5, HQ 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent:  Complainant reported they had sent sexually explicit videos online and now were being extorted for $5,000.  The complainant had not complied, as a result screen shots of the video were posted on Instagram.  No money or banking information changed hands.  Preventive strategies were discussed with the complainant, and they were encouraged to contact Cyber Civil Rights Initiative, and the website stopncii.org which assists victims of non-consensual intimate image abuse.  Victim Services also engaged.

July 7, HQ 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent:  Complainant reported they were the victim of identity theft.  The complainant had received several bank credit cards in the mail and had been notified by the bank that the cards were being issued in the complainant’s name.  The bank had been contacted regarding the identity theft and all cards were cancelled.  Equifax and TransUnion have been notified and will monitor the situation. 

July 8, 5000 Block of Canoe Pass Way:  Complainant reported their Apple watch was stolen from their workplace.  Watch mapping located the watch at a Burnaby address.  The Burnaby RCMP located and retrieved the watch.  Complainant was not interested in pursuing charges.

July 9, 1400 Block of Hwy 17:  Police observed a vehicle swerving over the centre line multiple times, and driving approximately 20 km/h under the speed limit.  The vehicle was stopped by police and a distinct odour of liquor was noted.  Two breath samples provided by the driver both read “Fail”.  The driver was given an a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition, and the vehicle was impounded.

July 3, 4500 Block of 53rd Street:  Complainant reported a break and enter to their garage.  Three males were observed surrounding the residence.  One male entered the garage and the other two were standing watch, with a truck and attached trailer. When the suspects realized they were being observed they left the area.  No damages and nothing stolen.  No information regarding the truck obtained.

July 6, HQ 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent:  Complainant communicated with a “Carlos” on Marketplace, and as requested sent $175 as a deposit on a PlayStation 5.  Once the money was sent all communication with seller stopped.  The bank was informed of the fraud, but the transaction was unable to be stopped as the money had been sent.   Police were informed for reporting purposes only.

July 8, 7400 Block of Vantage Way:  Complainant reported the front license plate was stolen from their vehicle, while parked on the street.  No suspects, witnesses, or surveillance video.

July 10, 5200 Block of Ladner Trunk Road:  A business reported three youth selected energy drinks valued at $10 and left the store without payment.  Police attended and conducted an area patrol but were unable to locate the suspects as described.  No witnesses or surveillance video available.
